The atmospherics in this song are ridiculously awesome…

Why Ed O’Brien is Awesome…

Part, I dunno, VI, I think? Anyway, here are a few more great examples of Ed’s guitar work (and work as a badass, in general):

As you can plainly see, Ed has written an amazing guitar part that creates the entire ambiance and atmosphere in this song, which is the most important part of ‘Let Down’. If you were to strip away the vocals, this song would have the exact same effect, emotionally, that’s a feat in and of itself in rock music. Also, getting that tone of a Rickenbacker is amazing.

One of my favorite songs, off of one of my least favorite albums. Ed’s guitar work here is great, simple, but great.

Seriously, Ed makes this song. Also, what the hell is wrong with the editors/producer of these kinds of live broadcasts? They never show the people who are soloing unless its the frontman…

Part III…

Why Ed O’Brien Is Awesome…

Part II in the series explaining why Ed O’Brien is under appreciated as a member of Radiohead…

Ed is cool because of his interest in Radiohead as a cohesive band. As mentioned previously, Thom and Jonny are given almost all of the credit for creating the bands now trademark experimentations work, both commercially and artistically. However, Ed is the completing facet of the creative triumvirate that is Radiohead’s guitar section.

Thom says it best here:

This is part one in a series about why Ed O’Brien is cooler than people think. Why? Well, to quote Noely G:

“I know what little Thom does, I know what Jonny does, I know what Colin does, I know what the Samaritan does on drums, what do you do?”

Anyway, here’s the first, and probably the best, example of Ed’s coolness, Treefingers

This is mostly Ed’s creation, with Thom and Ed adding effects to Ed’s guitar work to create the ambient sounds heard on the album. I would kill to hear it before and to know what they used to digitally change it.

Also Cool…

I wish they would let Ed play more cool stuff. Or actually, I wish the people filming these appearances would show Ed doing the cool stuff he does. Radiohead isn’t just Thom and Johnny, you know…

Haha, Alright…

Jamie Foxx and his other DJs on his radio show ripping into Miley Cyrus for making those dumbass comments about Radiohead…

The magic of this song isn’t truly captured on this live version, but the studio version is absolutely perfect…

Haha, You Suck Miley… Part II

13 March, 2009

Remember a few weeks ago when Miley Cyrus wanted to meet Radiohead and they did not oblige? Well, i didn’t know this until now, but this is what she said… like she actually said this…

“I left ’cause I was so upset,” she said. “I wasn’t going to watch. Stinkin’ Radiohead! I’m gonna ruin them, I’m going to tell everyone.”

Does she. I mean, does she, really? She must have her own head stuck so far up her own ass that she doesn’t even understand that Radiohead, as pretentious and douchey as they can be, are a staple of music history. They have been around forever and have a huge following and they will be remembered for long after they’re gone… Miley, not so much. She can’t honestly believe that the same people who listen to Radiohead even listen to what she has to say, can she?

Idiot…

Oh ya, Kanye got snubbed by them, too. I don’t think that was very cool of Radiohead, I mean Kanyeezy a pretty soulful dude with an appreciation for good music, art and fashion. You’re Thom Yorke, man, not Paul McCartney…

Radiohead, Pretentious? Yes. Awesome? Indeed.

Apparently Miley Cyrus wanted to meet Thom and the rest of Radiohead at the Grammies and they gave her the cold shoulder. Sweet.
