Today’s Noelism: Noelpocalypse

18 February, 2011

I sometimes leave the room with a, ‘John Lennon was an idiot’, just to watch the explosion,” Noel once said about how to stir up his brother.

This is the greatest Noelism ever committed to print.

Liam Sounds Sane. For Once…

24 January, 2011

From Danger Bird Records:

“There was never any fear with Oasis,” says Liam, “You knew people were going to dig it because it was Oasis. But I’ll be honest, when the gigs come round with Beady Eye, we’ll be shitting it, because it’s a new thing. We’ve been rehearsing the live set for the last two weeks though and it’s sounding great. The template for Beady Eye is the same one we had for early Oasis. Put out a lot of great singles not on the album with great B-sides, keep it flowing. What happened with Oasis was you’d end up on an 18 month world tour and you wouldn’t have any time to put new music out. When you get big, it slows you down. When you start out fresh, it’s all about the tunes. And remember, we’re a new band, we’re not going to get above ourselves and start thinking we can play stadiums and arenas, we don’t want to jump the gun, we want to go out and do small gigs, get back into that vibe then do another album, and take it gradually, stay in the moment of being a new band.”

That sounds… level headed. Normal, intelligent, in fact. Maybe Oasis splitting really was the best thing for everyone…

That’s A Lot Better…

I dare say that this is much better than Liam and Co.’s first single…

Pretty Cool…

12 July, 2010

This is a fan made trailer for the upcoming Stallone, Statham, Schwarzeneggar, Li, Lundgren, Couture, Austin, Rourke, Willis, Crews vehicle the Expendables that’s coming out this August. Its pretty funny, very well cut, and a little too “man-nerdy” for me (I’m coining that term). I think it raises a good point about the state of American “cinema” currently. Also, anything starring Charisma Carpentar deserves an oscar IMHO, if she’s not wearing clothes it deserves the Nobel Prize (yes, even a violent movie like this would deserve one).

Too Good Not To Post.

Liam’s response to “What is the inspiration for Beady Eye?” is classic. To be honest, I don’t really care what Liam, Gem and Andy’s new band sounds like as long as Andy Bell has a lot of input and it sounds like this:

Uplifting…

30 April, 2010

This has to be the most uplifting story I’ve ever read. I’m, also, a little jealous.

Local boy with cancer turns into a superhero for a day

Thursday was shaping up to be just another school day for 13-year-old Erik Martin, but then something extraordinary happened: Spiderman called.

Spiderman happens to be one of the few people who knows that Erik, too, has a secret identity — he’s Electron Boy, a superhero who fights the powers of evil with light.

And Spiderman needed Erik’s help.

Oasis stars Andy Bell and Gem Archer must have sore backsides from sitting on the fence.
Neither bass player Andy nor guitarist Gem have taken sides with either Liam or Noel Gallagher since the Oasis split last summer.
But Liam is about to get them into rehearsal for live dates later this year and Noel has also needed the lads for demo sessions.
So it’s all pointing towards some difficult times when the inevitable clash of commitments happens.
A source said: “It’s a tricky situation for Gem and Andy.
“They are working with both Liam and Noel. Liam’s begun rehearsing tracks for his new project, while Noel has been doing demos of songs as well.
“It’s great for Gem and Andy, though. They get paid twice, but it’s bound to lead to trouble in the future.”
I hear Noel has more than enough material for a solo album.
He’s had house moving and family duties to take care of but once that has settled I’m sure he’ll be back to work.
Especially after another taste of the action on stage with Paul Weller last week.
He has also been recording with dance producers Amorphous Androgynous.
Duo Garry Cobain and Brian Dougans are responsible for one of the best rave tracks of all time – 1991’s Papua New Guinea, recorded under the name Future Sound Of London.
Last year the duo re-tooled Oasis single Falling Down to spectacular psychedelic effect.
A lot of people are excited to hear what tunes will emerge, me included.

Interesting… I’m not sure how I feel about this, if its true. I mean, ya it will be cool to have the band still working together amongst themselves, but I think this will just create musical inbreeding. Although, Noel could just be using Andy and Gem as demo musicians, not as his actual studio musicians, so we’ll have to see…

Salt & Fat

20 April, 2010

This is seriously the greatest food blog I’ve ever read, for too many reasons to describe. The best parts, they talk about using left over chicken (something I do as well) and they pair things with beer without coming off in a “hoity toity not really a beer fan but I think I know about beer because of that time I went to a beer tasting and I like Stella Artois” kind of way.

Amazing Interview…

5 April, 2010

Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs from Oasis, and now The Vortex, gave one of the best interviews I’ve ever read to StopCryingYourHeartOut.com:

Yes absolutely, you know absolutely… I look back on them days as the proudest days of my life, I wouldn’t rewind the clock and not do it again. That’s an absolutely brilliant time of my life to be a part of it, yes, I’m dead proud when you walk in a shop and you hear a record you played on. Absolutely, to say you were a part of that band and what they achieved and what they did and recorded, then it’s just a massive thing, so definitely, I absolutely love it man.

You snarky bastard…

Coldplay are alright but they don’t do it for me that much, they’re not rock ‘n’ roll enough man. They live all around the corner from me so I don’t want to say too much in case they come round and give me a paper cut.

Interesting…

Noel Gallagher’s victim impact statement was just released.

I have been told that I will never really recover from the damage to my ribs and from time to time I still feel painful twinges. The emotional impact it had on me was essentially coping with the pressure to perform so as not to let the band down. This has never happened to me before. For a considerable period of time I was only operating at 50% of my capabilities and this naturally spoilt the enjoyment of the tour.

Read the Full Statement Here

I get the idea that perhaps, just maybe, he is hinting at the fact that this might have had something to do with the split. If that is the case then I say fuck you, Mr.Sullivan, fuck you and I hope your life is ruined…
